Good-bye, Danii！（第１話）

母国テキサスにお帰りになったDanii先生のお話を、シリーズでご紹介していきます。
■Exploring Japan.
Some people are unaware that Japan is the first country I've ever visited. It is also the place I've wanted to go since I was a child. Many people ask me "Why did you decide to go to Japan?" To answer that question, I can't say I ever had a particular reason, but over time, I became more and more interested in Japan.
In my home country in America, I would eat Japanese food, attend cultural festivals, and even began to try to self teach myself a few words and phrases in Japanese. I often saw travel videos of people visiting Japan, and felt I HAD to go and experience it myself!
I really wanted to make friends in Japan, experience the culture, and learn the language because I always thought it was beautiful. I still have a lot of language learning to do, but the experiences I've had in Japan, and people I've met are unforgettable, and I hope to have more wonderful memories in the future!
憧れの日本ですばらしい思い出をつくられ、本当によかったですね。

今回はとっても短いスラングについてです。
■Ta / Taa
Ta is a very casual way to say “thanks” in New Zealand/British English.
“Can you please pass me the salt?...... Ta”.
Or if you say it with a long “a” sound, “taa”, while holding out the palm of your hand, then it means, “give that to me right now”.
(Mother speaking to a toddler) “taaaa.. give the toy to mummy”.
“Ta”は、日本語でしたら、「どーも」ですかね。
“Taa”は？？

ニュージーランドの英語には、フレンドリーな国民性を反映したスラングもたくさんあります。
■Kiwi
You may have heard that people in New Zealand are really friendly.
One way that we are friendly is in the way we speak.
New Zealand English is very casual and we have a lot of slang.
I’d like to introduce you to some New Zealand Slang to help you understand and sound like native Kiwis!
Of course kiwi is the name of a fruit however we always call the fruit “kiwifruit”, never just “kiwi”.
Kiwi is also the name of New Zealand’s native bird, but a “kiwi” is also what New Zealand people call themselves!
Example:
“Are you an American?”. ＿＿＿ “No, I’m a Kiwi, I’m from New Zealand.”
自分たちのことを「キウイ」って呼ぶなんて、かわいいですね！

【多読】2学期も読書するぞー！

こんにちは、英語科です。
ブログの写真は、生徒に学級多読文庫を作ってもらっている風景です。
日頃は自分が読む1冊の本を選んでいましたが、今回はクラスの学級文庫ということで、たくさんの本を選ばないといけないです。
自分が読みたい本だけでなく、司書の先生やクラスメイトからのオススメ本も入れて、オリジナル文庫が完成しました。
みんなで楽しい読書の思い出を共有しながら2学期も多読活動を頑張って行きましょう！

【家庭科】科学の目線で食品を見る！！

生クリームの乳脂肪と水分を分ける実験を行いました。（バター作りとも言います。）
生クリームに刺激を与えると脂肪球同士がくっつくため、乳脂肪と水分に分離します。
簡単に言うと、生クリームをビンに入れて振って振って、振り続けるとバターができるということです！
実験中、牛乳からバターを作ることができるのだろうか？と疑問を持った生徒がいました。
確かに牛乳にも乳脂肪が含まれていますが・・。
実は、市販の牛乳を振ってもうまくバターは作れません。
それは、脂肪球を小さくする処理が行われていることが原因です。
お馴染みの牛乳は工場で目に見えない加工がされていたのです。
いつも見ている食品も科学の目線だと違う世界が見えてきます。
日常の中に潜む化学変化を見つけてみよう♪

前回は、It’s tea time. が、なんと夕食の時間のことだというお話でした。
では、お茶の時間のことは、ニュージーランドではなんというのでしょう？
■Would you like a cuppa?
When we want to invite someone over to drink tea,
we say: “Would you like a cuppa?”
So if you go to New Zealand and someone asks you “would you like a cuppa” or “how about coming over for a cuppa”, they are asking you to have a hot drink of tea or coffee with them!
Now you have learned the difference between: “It’s tea time!” and “Would you like a cuppa?” an important part of NZ culture!
「カッパ」ってお茶のこと？？
そう、cuppa はa cup of tea の略なんですね。

【English Drama】TV番組を作りました

こんにちは、英語科です。
English Dramaの授業で、TV番組を作りました。
番組の進行表やニュース原稿も全部英語で考えて、映像編集までも全部自分たちで行いました。
特殊効果やBGMも入れるなど、凝った演出もありました！
2学期も楽しく英語を勉強していきましょうね。

英語圏と呼ばれる国や地域の中でも、実際に使われる表現や発音には多くの違いがあります。
今回は、ALTの先生が授業で紹介している、ニュージーランド英語にまつわる話をシリーズでご紹介していきます。
■It’s tea time.
If you hear "it's tea time", what do you think that means?
Perhaps you think it means "it's time to drink tea."
But in New Zealand that is not the case!
It means "it's time to eat dinner!"
So if you go to New Zealand and someone says “tea’s ready!” or “it’s tea time,” it means: “Dinner is ready.” or “It’s time for dinner!”
「おやつの時間だよ」と誘われたと思ったら、夕食だったなんて、ほんとびっくりですね。

【保育】ピクトグラムで遊ぼ♪

写真を見てください。これは何のスポーツを表しているでしょうか？
正解はこの記事の一番下をご覧ください。
今回の授業では、ゲームをしながらピクトグラムについて学びました。
ピクトグラムとは、情報や指示、案内などを単純化された絵や図形で表したものです。
今回はカードに書かれた絵を組み合わせて新しいピクトグラムを作ったり、当てたりするゲームに挑戦！高校生らしい斬新な組み合わせで新しいピクトグラムを生み出していました。
思ったより相手に伝わったり、伝わらなかったりで子どもだけでなく大人も楽しめるゲームでした。
さて最後に、写真の答えは「テニス」でした！正解できましたかー？

【国語科】伝え上手になろう

中１国語は、情報の整理整頓がテーマ！！
マッピングを用いて題材に関する情報を集め、自分が伝えたい内容を、目的や相手を意識しながらまとめていきます。
この日は、その発表会を行いました。
よりわかりやすく伝えるために、切り抜きを持参して提示したり、板書をしながら説明したり…。
それぞれの工夫が目に見えてわかり、驚きと感心がいっぱいの楽しい時間となりました。
質問タイムでも皆積極的に手を挙げていて、時間が足りないくらいでしたよ！
反省もあるようでしたが、これからもたくさん機会がありますので、ぜひ生かしていってほしいと思います。
